I retired from the University of Texas at Austin in 2026.  My primary appointment was in Government; I was jointly appointed to the Philosophy Department and to the School of Civic Leadership.  In addition, I taught some courses in the Department of Religious Studies and the Law School.  Following is the chronology of my appointments.

2025-2026:  Received jointly appointment to the School of Civic Leadership, University of Texas at Austin.

2022-2026:  Faculty Fellow of the Civitas Institute, University of Texas at Austin.

2002-present:  Professor, Departments of Government and Philosophy, University of Texas at Austin.

1995-2002:  Associate Professor, Departments of Government and Philosophy, University of Texas at Austin.

1988-1995:  Associate Professor, Department of Government, University of Texas at Austin.

1981-1988:  Assistant Professor, Department of Government, University of Texas at Austin.

1980-1981:  Acting Instructor, Departments of Political Science, Yale University.
